About the Bonanzi Collection The BonanziTerroir Collection identifies those wines from the Marianne single varietal range that truly stand out for their excellence, longevity and unique expression of Terroir. Bonanziwines are limited releases identified only once a wine has developed in the bottle.
The grapes are handpicked at phenolic ripeness and stored at 10 °C overnight to delay fermentation and allow for a few days of pre-fermentation cold soaking. The wine is fermented fast, under 72 hours to dryness in order to maximize the extraction of color and soft tannins and avoid the development of bitter aromas. A rigorous regime of punch-downs and pump-overs is applied day and night for those three days. After fermentation, further maceration for just under a week gives the wine its final extract before before it is transferred to second-fill French oak barrels for 18 months.
The 2012 Pinotage is brilliant red in colour, packed with classic Pinotage aromas of blackberries, banana and prune. The wine is well structured with soft tannins, the palate is bright and delicate with remarkable black fruit. Smooth lasting finish.
This wine is ideal with spicy Asian style dishes and red or barbequed meats.
